Abstract
Infectiousdiseaseisnolongeralocalproblem.Modernpopulationsaremoremobilethaneverbefore,andwiththismobilitycomesactiveglobalmixingofinfectiousdisease.Tounderstandthespreadofdiseasessuchasinfluenza,weuseamulti-cityepidemicmodel.WeextendtheSEIR(susceptible-exposed-infectious-recovered)modeltoincorporatepopulationmigrationbetweencities,andusethismodeltoanalyzethegeographicspreadofinfluenza.Weinvestigatetheeffectivenessoftravelrestrictionsasacontrolagainstthespreadofinfluenza.
