Search for a Heavy Particle Decaying to a Top Quark and a Light Quark in pp? Collisions at ？？=1.96??TeV

Abstract

WepresentasearchforanewheavyparticleXproducedinassociationwithatopquark,pp!tðX! tqÞorpp!tðX!tqÞ,whereqstandsforupquarksanddownquarks.Suchaparticlemayexplainthe recentanomalousmeasurementsoftop-quarkforward-backwardasymmetry.Ifthelight-flavorquark(q) isreconstructedasajet(j),thisgivesatþjortþjresonanceinttþjetevents,apreviouslyunexplored experimentalsignature.Inasampleofeventswithexactlyonelepton,missingtransversemomentumand atleastfivejets,correspondingtoanintegratedluminosityof8:7fb1collectedbytheCDFIIdetector, wefindthedatatobeconsistentwiththestandardmodel
