Accessible and Informative Sectioned Images and Surface Models of a Cadaver Head

Abstract

ThesectionedimagesandsurfacemodelsofacadaverheadintheVisibleKoreanProjectwouldbemorebeneficialiftheywereaccessibleandinformative.Tothisaim,3policieswereestablished:(1)thedataarepromptlyobtainableandobservable(2)thegraphicdataareaccompaniedbyexplainingtheanatomictermsand(3)two-mensionalimagesandthree-dimensionalmodelsareshowntogether.Accordingtothepolicies,thefollowingwereattempted.Twohundredthirty-fivecouplesofsectionedimagesandoutlinedimages(intervals,1mm)oftheheadwereprepared.Browsingsoftwarewasdevelopedwherethe2correspondingimagesweredisplayedsimultaneously.Inaddition,thestructuresintheimageswererecognizedwiththeaidofautomaticlabeling.Fromtheoutlinedimages,surfacemodelsof178headstructureswereconstructed.Thetwo-dimensionalsurfacemodelsincludingthesectioned imageswereembeddedintothethree-dimensionalsurfacemodels.AllthemodelswerecategorizedintosystemsandarrangedtobeinputtedtoaPDF(portabledocumentformat)file.ThefinalizedPDFfilecontainingcomprehensiveheaddatacouldbeexplored onAdobeReader.Iftheuserclickedonthesurfacemodels,theiranatomicnameswerehighlighted.Thesectionedimages,outlinedimages,andsurfacemodelsintherowsingsoftwareandPDFfilecanbedownloadedfromthehomepage(anatomy.co.kr)freeofcharge.Thestate-of-the-artgraphicinformationwillhopefullyassistmedicalstudentsinlearningheadanatomy.Inaddition,therawdataareexpectedtocontributetotheariousclinicalpracticesimulations.
