Measurement of the WZ cross section and triple gauge couplings in pp? collisions at ？？=1.96??TeV

Abstract

ThisarticledescribesthecurrentmostprecisemeasurementoftheWZproductioncrosssectionaswell aslimitsonanomalousWWZcouplingsatacenter-of-massenergyof1.96TeVinproton-antiproton collisionsfortheColliderDetectoratFermilab(CDF).WZcandidatesarereconstructedfromdecays containingthreechargedleptonsandmissingenergyfromaneutrino,wherethechargedleptonsareeither electronsormuons.UsingdatacollectedbytheCDFIIdetector(7:1fb1ofintegratedluminosity),63 candidateeventsareobservedwiththeexpectedbackgroundcontributing81events.Themeasured totalcrosssectionðpp!WZÞ¼3:93þ0:60 0:53 ðstatÞþ0:59 0:46 ðsystÞpbisingoodagreementwiththestandard modelpredictionof3:500:21.ThesamesampleisusedtosetlimitsonanomalousWWZcouplings.
