Ⅱ. Objective of the study and its importance

A. Purpose
◦ Utilization of future prediction techniques as a combination of scientific knowledge and cutting-edge technologies with HPC infrastructure which is a core for advanced IT technologies
◦ Construction of a decision making support system for national risk management to synthetically collect, produce, and analyze various information necessary to mitigate danger/damage of disasters

B. Necessity
◦ Needs of an extended public and private service utilizing HPC and a support to promote service industries
- Necessary activities to support safe and reliable life from various natural disasters by enhancing national disaster management system
◦ Enacting 「Law of utilization and promotion of national HPC」and establishing fundamental plans for the law

Ⅲ. Content and scope of the study
○ Development of Modeling/Simulation/Visualization system for atmosphere-ocean-water related disasters
- Improvement of accuracy and efficiency for HPC based typhoon numerical prediction model
- Construction of a HPC-based multi model ensemble and data assimilation system for the prediction of typhoon and heavy rain
- Improvement of visualization technology and diffusion of visualization system through the technological support and public relations
○ Development of knowledge detection system responding to the disaster information
- Development of knowledge detection algorithm and platform based on the distributed deep learning
- Development of big data-based operational damage prediction algorithm and system by disaster type
- Development of deep learning-based short-term disaster prediction system using satellite image and sensor data
○ Development of KISTI Decision Making Support System(K-DMSS 3.0) responding to typhoon-induced disaster
- Development of visualization technology to support efficient decision making responding to disaster
- Construction of sharing and utilization system of disaster information by improving disaster information integration system
- Development of K-DMSS through packaging of prediction system and disaster information integration system
