Abstract

연구의 목적 및 내용 ◦2007년 10월 체결한 유럽핵입자물리연구소(CERN)와의 WLCG MoU에 의거한 ALICE Tier2 센터 구축 운영 및 서비스 제공 ◦차세대 컴퓨팅 기술인 그리드에 대한 세계적 수준의 기술력을 소유하고 있는 CERN과의 협력을 통한 그리드 미들웨어, 서비스 운영 기술 확보 및 국내 보급 연구결과 ◦ALICE Tier2 센터 운영 및 안정적 서비스 제공 - 150 kSI2K 계산능력, 50TB 저장공간, 10 Gbps 고성능 네트워크 제공 - 평균 가용율 93% 이상의 안정적 서비스 제공 ◦ALICE 실험데이터 병렬 처리 분석 툴 (PROOF) CERN과 국제공동 기술 개발 - dataset verification 병렬화 개발 및 ROOT v5.34에 포함 배포 - proofbench 기술 개발 및 ROOT v5.29에 포함 배포 ◦ALICE 컴퓨팅 국제 협력 - CERN 방문 연구를 통한 PROOF 기술 국제 공동 개발 및 배포 - 국제 학술대회 발표 및 기술 교류, 전문가 초청 세미나 개최 등 ◦ALICE 컴퓨팅 운영 및 분석 기술지원 - ROOT/PROOF 튜토리얼 개최 등 ALICE 컴퓨팅 기술 국내 지원 연구결과의 활용계획 ◦국내외 연구자의 ALICE 실험 데이터 시뮬레이션 및 분석을 위한 ALICE 실험 연구 자원으로서 활용 ◦그리드 미들웨어 및 운영 기술 확보를 통해 ALICE Tier1 센터 구축 및 운영에 활용 ◦바이오, 생명공학 등 타분야 대용량 계산 처리 (High Throughput Computing) 기술 개발을 위한 레퍼런스로서 활용

Purpose& contents ◦The construction and operation of ALICE Tier2 Center and provision of ALICE computing service according to the WLCG MoU signed with CERN in October, 2007. ◦The acquisition of grid middleware and operation technology in collaboration with CERN with a world-class grid technology Result ◦The provision of a reliable operation and service of ALICE Tier2 Center and the fullfillment of the following resource provision: - 150 KSI2K of Computing Power, 50 TBytes of Disk Storage, 10 Gbps of Network Bandwidth - greater than 93% of service availability annually ◦The joint development of PROOF(Parallel ROOT Facility) with CERN, with KISTI's major contribution to: - the development of a proof benchmark module called ProofBench released as part of ROOT v5.29 - the development of a parallel dataset verification module included in the release of the ROOT v5.34 ◦The promotion of mutual collaboration with CERN in regards with the ALICE Computing ◦The provision of technical support for ALICE computing for Korean ALICE community Expected Contribution ◦The future extensive use of the KISTI ALICE computing resources to facilitate R&D activities for Korean ALICE community ◦The stable and reliable operation of ALICE Tier1 Center in KISTI with the experiences gained from the operation of ALICE Tier2 Center ◦The expected application of grid-related technologies learned from the participation to ALICE computing-related activities for the building of HTC services and tools in many areas such as bio-medical, life science, etc.
