1. 필요성 ○ 슈퍼컴퓨팅 인프라의 효과적인 활용을 지원하고, 국내 첨단응용연구자들을 대상으로 그리드, e-Science 등의 첨단 과학기술 연구에 대한 수요를 만족시킬 수 있는 초고속연구망 기반 구축 및 고도화 필요 2. 내용 ○ 세계 수준의 하이브리드형 네트워크 제공을 통한 첨단 R&D 응용연구 기반 마련 ○ 엑세스 망 접속 기반 향상을 통한 국내선도 응용연구 활성화 ○ 국내 백본망 5~20 기가급 거점 확대 ○ 액세스망 수 기가급 기반 확대 ○ 망 운영센터(NOC)를 통한 망의 고가용성 확보 및 장애 대응 처리 서비스 ○ 세계수준 망 보안센터 운영으로 실시간 침해공격 시도에 대한 적극적인 대응 ○ 초고속연구망 이용기관을 위한 웹 기반 Help Desk 구성 운영 ○ 국내 분야별 전문가 중심의 커뮤니티 구성 및 운영 ○ 초고속연구망 이용기관 실무자 중심의 이용자 모니터링 수행( 3. 파급효과 ○ 국내 과학기술자 및 연구개발자에게 초고속과학기술 인프라를 제공하며, 첨단과학기술정보 및 고부가 슈퍼컴퓨팅 자원, 첨단 공동 실험 장비 등을 효과적으로 활용하게 함으로서 연구 능력의 획기적 향상 가능 ○ 국내 산.학.연에 선진국 수준의 초고속연구망 이용 서비스 제공과 더불어 축적된 관련 첨단 네트워킹 및 서비스 기술을 범용 인터넷 망 및 국가정보 인프라 구축에 지원 가능

○ Form the basis of high-tech R&D applied research by world-class hybrid network support - Max. 20Gbps backbone network build by based on first and world-class Light-Path technology - Pilot service environment build which are possible to provide packet and circuit switching ○ Domestic leading applied research promotion by improvement of access network connection foundation - National TeraGrid construction for supercomputer common use by using 1Gbps ~ 10Gbps access link, and a leading applied research support such as remote medical examination and treatment system build ○ Expansion of 5Gbps ~ 20Gbps bases of domestic backbone network - KREONET local center expansion : 13(’05) sites → 14(‘06) sites, Jeju university ○ Expansion of Gbps-level access network - 1Gbps-level access local center expansion : 9(’05) sites → 12(‘06) sites, 33.3% increase to compared with last year - 1Gbps-level users connection expansion : 32('05) organizations → 46('06) organizations, 43.8% increase to compared with last year ○ Expansion of network and gateway interconnection about international research network, 33.3% and 25% increase to compared with last year ○ Make sure of network availability by NOC and failure corresponding service - 24(hours)×365(days) network management system establishment by world-level NOC build ○ Active corresponding against invasion attempts by world-level security center operation ○ Help Desk operation based on web for organizations using KREONET ○ Build and operation communities around domestic sector experts ○ Hold workshops and seminars to expand next-generation network technology for organizations using KREONET ○ Perform organization's monitoring around working-level officials (2 times/ year)
