III. 연구개발의 내용 및 범위
우선 여성과학기술인력을 정확히 정의하는 것이 필요하다. OECD에서 최근 사용하고 있는 HRST(Human Resource for Science and Technology)는
i) 과학기술분야의 고등교육을 성공적으로 끝마쳤거나,
ii) 과학기술분야의 고등교육을 성공적으로 끝마치지는 못했지만, 보통 과학기술분야의 고등교육을 성공적으로 마친 자가 취업하는 직업에 종사하고 있는 자로 과학기술인력을 정의하고 있다.
OECD 정의에 따르되 고등교육을 마치고 과학기술분야의 직업에 종사하고 있는 여성을 중심으로 데이터베이스를 구축하였으며 사장되고 있는 유휴여성과학기술인력에 대한 지원대책 마련의 필요성을 인식시키고자 미취업 여성과학기술인력들도 포함시켰다. 인력은 1)교육수준, 2)학문분야, 3)직업, 4)산업부문의 네 가지 기준에 따라 분류될 수 있다. 과학기술인력은 표준 직업 분류상 물리, 수학 및 공학 전문가(}생명과학 및 보건전문가자연과학 및 공학기술 전공(}생명과학 및 보건준전문가(}교육전문가중 과학기술계 교원으로 구성된다. 본 과제에서는 위 표준 직업 분류에 속하는 모든 여성을 대상으로, 공문 발송 및 홍보활동을 통하여 직장별, 학(}협회별로 여성 과학기술자의 명단을 확보하고 개별 전화접촉이나 이메일에 의하여 동의를 얻은 다음 3,896건(갱신 포함)의 데이터베이스를 구축하였다.
여성과학기술인 데이터베이스의 분야별 검색기능의 활용도를 강화하기 위하여 연령별, 전공별, 학위별, 근무지역별 분포현황 등을 쉽게 알아볼 수 있는 통계처리 기능을 추가하였으며 온라인 입력시스템을 강화하여 조사대상자가 본인 정보를 손쉽게 입력하고 관리할 수 있도록 하였다.

III. Content and scope of the study
First of all, it is necessary to define precisely women resources for science and technology. HRST(Human Resource for Science and Technology) recently defined by OECD refer to
i) those who have successfully completed their advanced education in science and technology or,
ii) those who have not completed their advanced education in science and technology but are still engaged in the occupation usually held by those who have completed their advanced education in science and technology.
We have established the database pursuant to the definition by OECD on the basis of the women who have completed their advanced education in science and technology and are engaged in the fields of science and technology, but included the women resources for science and technology
who have completed heir advanced education in science and technology but are currently not employed, in order to bring attention to the necessity for arranging support measures for the unemployed women.
Human resources may be classified under the four criteria of 1)level of education, 2)the academic field, 3)occupation, 4)industrial field. Human resources for science and technology, under the standard occupation classification criteria, consist of specialists in physics, mathematics and
engineering, and specialists in life science and health, and those persons who majored in natural science and engineering technology, and semi- specialists in life science and health, and science and technology teachers among those who majored in education. In this project, we have secured the lists of the women by their occupation, academic society and association under the above standard occupation classification through letters and public relations, and have established the database of 3,896 cases (including update) after we have obtained their consents through personal phone calls or e- mails.
In order to improve on the application of the field- wise search functions of the database of women resources for science and technology, we have added the statistical disposal functions to readily find out about their distribution status based on their ages, majors, degrees and places of
employment, and by improving on the on- line input system, have made it.
