dc.description.abstract
Crystal structure determinations for the divergent quaterpyridine-type ligand bis-1,4-(di-4-pyridylaminomethyl)benzene, dpab, and its complexes with silver(I)trifluoroacetate and nitrate have revealed the operation of different weak interactionswithin the lattices. Coordination of four pyridyl-N donors to Ag(I) in the trifluoroacetateresults in a 3-dimensional coordination polymer with the uncoordinated anions heldwithin the cavities created by that polymer. In the nitrate, only two pyridyl-N donors arebound to each of the two inequivalent Ag(I) centres and the lattice contains twointerpenetrating coordination polymers linked by CH…O interactions involving thecoordinated anions.
