TheperformanceofactiveCPUcoolingheatsinksprimarilydependsontheforcedairconvectioncreatedbycomputerfans.Boostingthefanspeed,however,resultsinnoise,vibrationproblems,andincreasedpowerconsumption.Theactiveheatsink,therefore,shouldbeoptimizedundertheconstraintsofoverallvolume,cost,andnoiselevel.Inthispaper,anewCPUcoolerisproposedthatprovidesamoreefficientheatdissipationcapacityfromtheCPUtoafinnedheatsinkwithoutaddingmoreheatpipesatalownoise
levelofasmallfanundertheconfinedspaceconstraintsofacomputerchassis.Computationalfluiddynamicssimulationswereusedtosearchforapropercoolingdesign.Thesimulationresultswerevalidatedwithcorrespondingphysicalexperiments.TheproposedCPUcoolerhasbeenshowntoprovideatotalthermalresistanceof0.11e0.19C/Watanoiselevelof21.5e36.3dBA.
