dc.description.abstract
Wepresenttheresultsofaweaklymodeledburstsearchforgravitationalwavesfrommergersofnon-spinningintermediatemassblackholes(IMBH)inthetotalmassrange100--450solarmassesandwiththecomponentmassratiosbetween1:1and4:1.ThesearchwasconductedondatacollectedbytheLIGOandVirgodetectorsbetweenNovemberof2005andOctoberof2007.NoplausiblesignalswereobservedbythesearchwhichconstrainstheastrophysicalratesoftheIMBHmergersasafunctionofthecomponentmasses.Inthemostefficientlydetectedbincenteredon88+88solarmasses,fornon-spinningsources,theratedensityupperlimitis0.13perMpc(3)perMyratthe90%confidencelevel.
