dc.description.abstract
We have recently launched several pioneer SETI projects in Korea. First, we are developing computer algorithm for high time-resolution SETI analysis applied for mm VLBI raw data. It will eventually be implemented to the Korea@Home platform for distributed computing. The data will hopefully be provided by the Korean VLBI Network (KVN) when ready. Second, we are now constructing a new public radio telescope mainly focusing on SETI observations in the Gwacheon National Science Museum. It is the 7 m radio telescope equipped with 1 million channel SETI spectrometer, working for 1.42 and 22 GHz. It is scheduled to open by the end of the year 2008. Third, the SETI education and public outreach project will be launched by late 2008. It will also be one of the main events for the International Year of Astronomy 2009 in Korea. We report the current status of the Korean SETI projects in this paper.
