Large-scale structural analysis using finite element method requires a high-performance and efficient parallel algorithm that is scalable in terms of both performance and storage. Most of researches for large-scale parallel structural analysis have focused on iterative solution methods since they are much easier to parallelize. On the contrary, direct solution methods generally have been considered not adequate for large-scale finite element computations because of many difficulties and disadvantages for large-scale problems. However, direct solution methods are generally much preferred due to their ease of use and the numerical robustness that guarantees the solution to be obtained within estimated time without fail. Therefore, for general application of large-scale structural analysis to wide range of problems, an efficient parallel direct solution method that has good scalability comparable to iterative methods should be proposed. In this research, we proposed a new parallel .......
