현가장치(Suspension)는 차축과 차체를 연결하여, 주행할 때 차축이 노면에서 받는 진동이나 충격이 차체에 직접 전달되지 않도록 함으로써 차체나 화물의 손상을 방지하고 승차감을 좋게 하는 장치이다.
차량에 있어서 현가장치(suspension)는 노면으로부터의 층격을 완화하고 차체를 지지하는 기본적인 역할 이외에, 선회시에 차량이 안정감 있고 운전자가 원하는 대로 움직여 줄 수 있는 민첩성(조종 안정성)과 외부로부터의 충격을 적극적으로 흡수하여 불쾌감 없이 운전할 수 있는 기능(승차감)을 제공하는 역할을 한다.
