대용량 실험데이터 이용지원 센터 설립ㆍ운영

Abstract

본 사업은 가속기 등 첨단연구장비에서 생성된 실험 데이터의 공동 활용을 목적으로 대규모 데이터 그리드 저장시스템 구축과 과학기술기본계획의 기초과학 선진화, 고도화, 글로벌화 지원 ○ 선진국의 시스템과 상호 연동이 가능한 실험데이터 공동활용 데이터센터 Storage 시스템 도입 및 글로벌 데이터 저장 시스템 인프라 구축 - 200TB, 300Core의 시스템 구축 및 성능 검증 작업 ○ 고에너지물리, 천문우주, 의과학 등의 실험데이터 공동활용 그리드 데이터팜 구축을 통한 국내 실험데이터 기반의 연구환경 제공 및 선진화 시스템 구축 - 미국과 유럽의 데이터그리드 기술을 통합한 글로벌 허브 구축이 가능한 데이터팜 구축 ○ 가속기분야 선진국의 실험 데이터 확보 및 데이터 검증 작업을 통한 국내 첨단연구 장비 실험 데이터 부존자원화 - CERN, KEK, FNAL 등의 국내 연구자가 필요로 하는 초기 테스트용 실험 데이터 확보, 2010년부터 저장시스템 확장과 연계한 국내 수요 데이터 확보 및 본격 서비스예정 ○ 선진국의 데이터센터와 기술교류 및 국제협력 추진 - CERN, KEK, FNAL과 데이터 팜 구축 및 데이터 그리드 컴퓨팅 시스템 구축 기술교류 추진, 이에 FNAL에 데이터센터 인력 파견을 통한 기술 습득과 원격 기술회의 개최

This project is divided into 3 sub-projects: the construction of infrastructure, the construction of research community for domestic researchers, and the promotion of NSDC's services. The construction of infrastructure includes the construction of global computing/storage resources and service, the establishment of stable channel for the raw experiment data from world-leading particle accelerators, and the provision of high quality computing services. ○ The construction of global computing/storage resources and service - The size of resources : 300core, 200TB - The provision of testbed with new resources in the 1st half of 2009 - The operation of local clusters and grid resources ○ The establishment of stable channel for the raw experiment data from world-leading particle accelerators - ALICE experiment data via ALICE Tier2 - Belle experiment data based on MoU with KEK - CDF experiment data by the grid operation with FNAL ○ The provision of high quality computing services - Service Availability : 90% ~ - The grid operation and test for the support of Belle experiment - The CAF grid operation using OSG Gatekeeper - ALICE Tier2 Service with CREAM-CE The construction of research community for domestic researchers includes the construction of NSDC User Association and its promotion, the satisfaction measurement of the technical support, the hosting of workshops on large-scale experiment data to promote data centric researches. ○ The construction of NSDC User Association and its promotion - The construction of NSDC User Association and hosting workshops (4 times) - The building of protocol for the technology support of user communities - The advertising of NSDC via mass media and workshops (3 times) ○ The satisfaction measurement of the technical support - The measurement of user's satisfaction on NSDC's technical support (70% ~) ○ The hosting of workshops on large-scale experiment data to promote data centric researches - The international workshop between other world-leading research institutes - The international workshop on 6 topics that are supported by NSDC
