본 연구개발은 첨단 나노기술 분야 연구를 수행하면서 관련되는 문헌정보에 대한 수집체계의 제반 요건을 확립하고 이를 축적, 가공, 입력하여 데이터베이스화함으로써 최신 정보를 효율적으로 집적 관리하는데 있다.
따라서 KIST 연구개발실(연구정보)은 이에 능동적으로 대처하기 위해 첨단 과학기술 정보 중 연구결과 보고서 원문 D/B 및 웹 디렉토리 데이터베이스를 구축하여 기초 과학기술 분야의 연구개발 활동을 적극 지원하고 나아가 과학기술 전반의 연구생산성을 높일 수 있도록 이를 보급 활용함을 목적으로 한다.
