2002년도 시범사업은 "신약후보물질 탐색을 위한 인터넷 분산컴퓨팅기술 개발사업"으로 세 가지의 세부 연구과제로 나누어져 있다.
첫 번째는 "인터넷기반 분산컴퓨팅 플랫폼 개발"에 대한 연구로서 Korea@Home이라 이름지은 분산컴퓨팅 플랫폼 개발이고, 두 번째는 "가상탐색용 알고리즘 개발 및 화학분자 데이터베이스 구축"에 관한 연구를 수행하였으며, 세 번째는 "질병관련 타겟 단백질의 정제 및 3차원 데이터화"에 대한 연구가 수행되었다.
